The choice comes down to three things: how many passengers, how much luggage and which gearbox. If nobody in the group drives a manual, the V-Class and the Prados are the ones to pick; for 8 or 9 people, the Traveller is the vehicle in the fleet that carries everyone in one go.

Which vehicle for which family?
Family car hire in Tunisia starts with the number of seats you will actually use and the luggage you are bringing. A few simple guidelines to prepare your quote request:

- 5 to 7 people with plenty of luggage: Mercedes V-Class, 7 seats and 6 bags, automatic.
- 5 to 7 people who prefer an SUV: Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2023 or 2025, 7 seats, automatic; tell us about your luggage, as boot space depends on how many seats are in use.
- 8 or 9 people: Peugeot Traveller, 9 seats and 6 bags, manual; the simplest minivan rental in Tunisia for a group.

Luggage, child seats and family comfort
Travelling as a family is mostly about suitcases, buggies and car seats. The Mercedes V-Class and the Peugeot Traveller each take 6 bags on top of their passengers; for a Prado, tell us how many suitcases you have so we can check the space available with all seven seats in use.
Child seats are available on request and confirmed at booking: give us the age and approximate weight of each child so we can confirm the right seat. Other extras, such as an additional driver or GPS, work the same way: on request, confirmed and priced in the quote before you accept. Before you message us, prepare this short list:
- Number of adult and child passengers, with the children's ages.
- Number and size of suitcases, plus any buggy or sports equipment.
- Child seats needed (on request, confirmed at booking).
- Any additional driver (on request).
- Your flight number if you are flying in.
Airport pick-up for families and groups
Landing with eight people, tired children and a pile of bags is not the moment to queue for a second taxi. Delivery and collection of your 7 or 9-seat vehicle are free at Tunis-Carthage (TUN), Enfidha-Hammamet (NBE) and Djerba-Zarzis (DJE) airports, day or night. You send us your flight number, an agent waits for you in arrivals with a name sign, and the V-Class, Prado or Traveller is parked at the exit with a full tank.
In Djerba, our office is at the airport itself. On the way home we meet you at departures at the agreed time, and the deposit is released once the vehicle has been checked. If nobody wants to drive straight after landing, a private group transfer from the same airports is available, with meet and greet, flight tracking and a fixed price agreed before you travel, quoted on request.
Requirements to rent a 7 or 9-seat vehicle
The conditions are the same as for the rest of the VIPCAR fleet; only the deposit amount varies with the vehicle category. To rent a 7 or 9-seat car in Tunisia you need:
The Peugeot Traveller has a manual gearbox, so make sure the main driver is comfortable with a manual on a vehicle of this size. The Mercedes V-Class and both Toyota Land Cruiser Prados are automatic.
- A driver aged at least 21 who has held a licence for at least 2 years.
- A passport or ID card, and the driving licence.
- An International Driving Permit, recommended if your licence is not in the Latin alphabet.
- A credit or debit card (both are accepted) for the deposit.
- A minimum rental period of 3 days.
- 300 km per day included, cumulative over the whole rental.
- Full-to-full fuel: the vehicle is returned with the same level as delivered.
- Driving in Tunisia only: taking the vehicle outside the country is not permitted.
Deposit and insurance on larger vehicles
Every rental includes basic third-party insurance. VIPCAR sells no extra insurance package: the refundable deposit, held for the rental, is your maximum liability. Whatever happens, nothing is charged beyond that amount, and the deposit is returned in full when the vehicle comes back in good condition.
The amount depends on the vehicle category: 1,500–3,000 TND for economy, 5,000 TND for standard and 6,000–8,000 TND for luxury. The exact figure for the V-Class, each Prado and the Traveller is shown on the car page and in your quote, before you confirm anything. It is held on a credit or debit card in the main driver's name. A deposit always applies, on every vehicle we rent, including the large family models; the details are in our deposit policy.
V-Class with chauffeur and group transfers

The Mercedes V-Class, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prados and the Peugeot Traveller can be booked with a professional chauffeur who speaks French and English, by the hour, by the day or over several days, anywhere in Tunisia. It is the ideal option for a wedding, a day trip, a visit to relatives or a group that would rather enjoy the scenery.
For a simple airport-to-hotel run, a private transfer is often the most practical choice: meet and greet with a name sign, flight tracking, a fixed price agreed before you travel, 24/7. Chauffeur and transfer services have no public price list: the price depends on the date, time, route and availability, and you receive a fixed quote on WhatsApp before you travel. Outside Greater Tunis and Djerba, a fuel and driver accommodation supplement is stated in the quote.
Family road trip: Tunis, Djerba, Gabès and the South
With 300 km per day counted over the whole rental, a 7 or 9-seat vehicle lets you cover the country from north to south without watching the odometer on a typical holiday. Many families land at Tunis-Carthage, explore Tunis and Carthage, spend a few days in Hammamet, then head down to Gabès, Djerba and the landscapes of the South.
One-way rentals are possible: picking the vehicle up in Tunis and returning it in Djerba or Gabès costs €70–100 depending on the route, which saves driving back north at the end of the trip. In Djerba, rental vehicles may use both the Roman causeway and the Ajim ferry. Our three offices, in Tunis Lac 2, Gabès and at Djerba airport, provide 24/7 assistance in English and French along the way. Remember that driving outside Tunisia is not permitted.

There are fewer 7 and 9-seat vehicles than city cars, so booking early is the best way to secure the model you want. More than 7 days ahead, a reservation deposit of 10% (standard) or 20% (luxury) confirms the booking. The balance is paid in cash, by card, bank transfer, PayPal, Revolut or secure payment link, in TND, EUR, USD, GBP or SAR. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pick-up (inside 24 hours, the reservation deposit is not refunded and a 20% fee applies).
