General questions

How do I rent a car in Tunisia with VIPCAR?+

Choose your car and dates on the booking page, or message us on WhatsApp at +216 55 771 077. We confirm a fixed quote within minutes, then deliver the car to your hotel or, free of charge, at Tunis-Carthage, Djerba-Zarzis or Enfidha airport. We operate 24/7 from Tunis, Gabès and Djerba.

Do you offer airport transfers in Tunisia?+

Yes. We provide private airport transfers to and from Tunis-Carthage (TUN), Djerba-Zarzis (DJE) and Enfidha-Hammamet (NBE), and all other Tunisian airports on request. Your driver tracks your flight and waits in arrivals with a name sign, for a fixed price agreed before you travel. 24/7.

Can I hire a car with a private chauffeur?+

Yes. Our chauffeur service pairs a Mercedes E-Class or V-Class with a professional French- and English-speaking driver, by the hour, the day or for several days. The price depends on date, time, route and availability: you receive a fixed quote on WhatsApp before you travel.

What documents do I need to rent a car?+

A valid driving licence held for at least two years, your passport or ID card, and a credit or debit card for the security deposit. The driver must be at least 21. An International Driving Permit is recommended if your licence is not in the Latin alphabet.

Is there a security deposit?+

Yes. A refundable security deposit is held for the rental: 1,500–3,000 TND for economy cars, 5,000 TND for standard cars and 6,000–8,000 TND for luxury cars. It is returned in full when the car comes back in good condition and is your maximum liability — nothing is ever charged beyond it. The exact amount is shown on each car page.

What is included in the rental price?+

300 km per day, basic third-party insurance, free delivery and collection at Tunis-Carthage, Djerba-Zarzis and Enfidha airports, and 24/7 assistance. Fuel is full-to-full: you return the car with the same level as delivered. Prices are displayed per car in TND with a EUR conversion.

Which cities and regions do you cover?+

We are based in Tunis with hubs in Gabès and Djerba, and serve the whole country, including Sousse, Hammamet, Sfax and the southern desert gateways. Delivery and collection can be arranged almost anywhere in Tunisia, confirmed at booking.

How long has VIPCAR been operating in Tunisia?+

VIPCAR was founded in 2001 and now runs a fleet of 250+ vehicles from its hubs in Tunis, Gabès and Djerba. Head office: Rue de la Feuille d'Érable, Lac 2, 1053 Tunis. Reach us 24/7 on +216 55 771 077 or info@vipcar.com.tn.

Self-drive car rental

What are the requirements to rent a car in Tunisia?+

Be at least 21 years old, hold a driving licence for a minimum of two years, and present your passport or ID card plus a credit or debit card for the security deposit, as set out in our Terms & Conditions.

How much is the security deposit?+

It depends on the category: 1,500–3,000 TND for economy cars, 5,000 TND for standard cars and 6,000–8,000 TND for luxury cars — the exact amount is shown on each car page. The deposit is refundable, returned in full when the car comes back in good condition, and it is your maximum liability.

Is insurance included, and what does the deposit cover?+

Basic third-party insurance is included in every rental. We do not sell extra insurance packages: the refundable security deposit is your maximum liability. Whatever happens during the rental, nothing is charged beyond the deposit, and it is returned in full if the car comes back in good condition.

Is there a mileage limit?+

300 km per day are included in every rental — enough for day trips from Tunis, Hammamet or Djerba. Planning a longer itinerary, such as a tour of the south? Tell us your route and the formula is confirmed at booking.

What is the fuel policy?+

Full-to-full: the car is delivered with a given fuel level and you return it with the same level. There is no refuelling package to buy, and nothing to pay if the level matches.

Can you deliver the car to my hotel or to the airport?+

Yes. Delivery and collection at Tunis-Carthage (TUN), Djerba-Zarzis (DJE) and Enfidha-Hammamet (NBE) are free, 24/7 — including night arrivals. We also deliver to hotels around our hubs in Tunis, Gabès and Djerba, and almost anywhere in Tunisia on request.

Can I pick up in Tunis and return in Djerba?+

Yes. One-way rentals between Tunis, Djerba and Gabès — including their airports — are allowed. A one-way fee of €70–€100 applies depending on the route, confirmed at booking.

Do you offer weekly, monthly or long-term rates?+

Yes — most cars have discounted weekly and monthly rates shown on their page, and long-term corporate contracts are available with formal invoicing.

Which currencies and payment methods do you accept?+

Prices are displayed in TND with a EUR conversion, and we accept TND, EUR, USD, GBP and SAR. You can pay in cash, by card, bank transfer, PayPal, Revolut or a secure payment link.

Do I need an International Driving Permit in Tunisia?+

Not for most visitors: a valid national licence held for at least two years is accepted. If your licence is not written in the Latin alphabet, we recommend carrying an International Driving Permit alongside it.

Can I take the rental car outside Tunisia?+

No. Crossing the border with the vehicle is not permitted, per our Terms & Conditions. Inside the country you are free to explore, including the south, with 300 km per day included.

How are rental days counted?+

Rentals are billed on a 24-hour basis from pick-up time; late returns may incur extra charges. Some vehicles have a minimum rental duration, shown on the car page.

Any tips for driving in Tunisia?+

Drive on the right; speed limits are posted in km/h. Keep your licence, passport and rental contract in the car. Fill up before heading into the south, where fuel stations are further apart. Check the car with our agent at delivery and take photos, so your deposit comes back in full.

What is the cheapest car to rent?+

Our economy city cars, like the Kia Picanto, carry the lowest daily rates — and rates drop further for weekly and monthly rentals. Exact prices in TND are shown on each car page.

What does the daily rate include?+

300 km per day, basic third-party insurance, fuel full-to-full, free delivery and collection at Tunis-Carthage, Djerba-Zarzis and Enfidha airports, and 24/7 assistance. Rates are in TND with a EUR conversion; we also accept USD, GBP and SAR.

What is the security deposit for each category?+

Economy cars 1,500–3,000 TND, standard cars 5,000 TND, luxury cars 6,000–8,000 TND — the exact amount is on each car page. The deposit is refundable, returned in full when the car comes back in good condition, and it is your maximum liability.

Are the cars automatic?+

Most of the fleet is automatic — the transmission is listed in the specifications on each car page.

Which cars can be delivered at Djerba airport?+

Any car in the fleet. Delivery and collection at Djerba-Zarzis (DJE), Tunis-Carthage (TUN) and Enfidha-Hammamet (NBE) are free, 24/7. Our Djerba hub also delivers to the island's hotels on request.

How well maintained are the vehicles?+

Booking and payment

What documents do I need to book a car in Tunisia?+

A driving licence held for at least two years, your passport or ID card, and a credit or debit card. An International Driving Permit is recommended if your licence is not in the Latin alphabet.

How do the reservation deposit and the security deposit work?+

To confirm a booking made more than 7 days ahead, a reservation deposit of 10% (standard cars) or 20% (luxury cars) is required; for last-minute bookings (0–7 days) it is optional or subject to availability. Separately, a refundable security deposit is held during the rental — 1,500–3,000 TND economy, 5,000 TND standard, 6,000–8,000 TND luxury — and returned in full when the car comes back in good condition.

What is the minimum age to rent a car with VIPCAR?+

The driver must be at least 21 years old and have held a valid driving licence for a minimum of two years, as set out in our Terms & Conditions.

Do I have to pay anything to get a quote?+

No. The quote is free and without commitment. A reservation deposit of 10% (standard) or 20% (luxury) is only required to confirm a booking made more than 7 days ahead; within 7 days it is optional or subject to availability.

Which payment methods and currencies do you accept?+

The reservation deposit can be paid by bank card, bank transfer, PayPal or Revolut. The balance is paid when you receive the vehicle: in cash, by card or via a secure payment link. We accept TND, EUR, USD, GBP and SAR.

Can I cancel or modify my booking?+

Yes. Cancellation and modification are free up to 24 hours before pick-up. Within 24 hours, fees apply as per our Cancellation Policy and the reservation deposit is not refunded. Refunds are processed within 5–7 business days.

Do you serve destinations outside Greater Tunis?+

Yes, we cover the whole country. Every transfer has a fixed price agreed before you travel. For chauffeur trips outside Greater Tunis or Djerba, a fuel and driver-accommodation supplement may apply depending on the destination — it is always included in the quote before you commit.

Can I pick up the car or my driver at the airport?+

Yes. Rental cars are delivered and collected free of charge at Tunis-Carthage (TUN), Djerba-Zarzis (DJE) and Enfidha-Hammamet (NBE). For transfers, your driver tracks your flight and waits in arrivals with a name sign — just add your flight number when booking.

Is insurance included in the price?+

Yes. Every rental includes basic third-party insurance. We do not sell extra insurance packages: instead, the refundable security deposit is your maximum liability, returned in full when the car comes back in good condition.

Airport transfers

How does a VIPCAR airport transfer work?+

Book on WhatsApp or via the booking page with your flight number. Your driver tracks the flight, waits in arrivals with a name sign and takes you directly to your destination — at a fixed price agreed before you travel, with no meter and no surprise.

Which airports do you serve?+

Tunis-Carthage (TUN), Djerba-Zarzis (DJE) and Enfidha-Hammamet (NBE) — arrivals and departures, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All other Tunisian airports are served on request.

Is the transfer price really fixed?+

Yes. There is no public price list: the price depends on the date, time, route and availability. We confirm it on WhatsApp before you travel, and the amount agreed is the amount you pay — never a surprise on arrival.

What happens if my flight is delayed?+

Nothing changes for you: your driver tracks your flight in real time and adjusts the pick-up to your actual arrival time.

How far in advance should I book a transfer?+

As soon as you know your flight, so we can guarantee the vehicle you want. Last-minute requests are handled 24/7 subject to availability. Send your flight number, date, number of passengers and destination — the pick-up is confirmed at booking.

Do you provide child seats?+

Yes, on request. Tell us the children's ages when you book and we confirm the right infant or booster seats with your quote, fitted before pick-up.

Can I book a transfer for a late-night or early-morning flight?+

Yes. VIPCAR operates 24/7, every day of the year — flights land at all hours, and so do we.

Which vehicles are used, and can you carry groups?+

From executive sedans like the Mercedes E-Class to the Mercedes V-Class and Peugeot Traveller with up to 8 seats — ideal for families and groups with luggage.

Can you drive me from Tunis airport to Hammamet, Sousse or Djerba?+

Yes. Transfers run from Tunis-Carthage, Enfidha and Djerba airports to any city in Tunisia — Hammamet, Sousse, Monastir, Sfax, Tozeur or Djerba. Journey time and price are confirmed at booking with your fixed quote.

How do I pay for the transfer?+

On arrival, in cash (TND, EUR, USD, GBP or SAR), by card or via a secure payment link. Bank transfer, PayPal and Revolut are available if you prefer to pay in advance. The amount is the fixed price agreed before you travel.

Chauffeur service

Can I hire a chauffeur by the hour, the day or for several days?+

Yes — hourly, full-day and multi-day programmes are all available, in the city or across Tunisia. Send your itinerary and we confirm a fixed quote on WhatsApp before you travel.

Which vehicles come with the chauffeur service?+

The Mercedes E-Class executive sedan and the Mercedes V-Class for up to 7–8 passengers with luggage. Other classes with a driver are available on request and confirmed in your quote.

Do your chauffeurs speak English or French?+

Yes. Our professional chauffeurs speak English and French — discreet, punctual and used to international clients.

Can the chauffeur take me outside Greater Tunis?+

Yes, anywhere in Tunisia. For trips outside Greater Tunis or Djerba, a supplement for fuel and the driver's accommodation may apply depending on the destination — it is always included in the fixed quote you receive first.

Can the chauffeur wait between meetings?+

Yes. With an hourly or full-day booking, the car and driver stay at your disposal between appointments in Tunis or elsewhere, so you leave when you are ready. Tell us your schedule and the waiting time is built into the quote.

Can a chauffeur meet me at Tunis airport and drive me to Hammamet or Sousse?+

Yes. Your chauffeur tracks your flight, meets you in arrivals with a name sign and drives you to Hammamet, Sousse or any other city in Tunisia. Send your flight number and destination for a fixed quote on WhatsApp.

Do you handle corporate roadshows and events?+

Yes: roadshows, delegations, conferences and events, with dedicated drivers and coordinated logistics. Companies can open a corporate account with a dedicated manager and monthly invoicing.

How is the chauffeur service priced?+

By the hour, the day or the programme, depending on the date, time, route and availability. Send them on WhatsApp and receive a fixed quote before you travel — the amount confirmed is the amount you pay, with no hidden costs.

Why is there no public price list for the chauffeur service?+

Because a chauffeur day in Tunis, a drive to Sousse and a three-day tour of the south do not cost the same. Rather than a misleading 'from' price, we quote each request on its date, time, route and availability and confirm it in writing on WhatsApp.
